RESPECT: A Musical Journey of Women 'rocked the hall' last Friday night at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts. The show, which will run through February 27th, chronicles the progress of women as reflected in the popular music of the 20th and 21st centuries. A multi-talented, powerful, and energetic ensemble of four women claimed the stage—and the hearts of the audience—from the opening medley: "Fall to Pieces", "Blues in the Night", Johnny Angel", "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend", through more than sixty songs to the closing and rousing renditions of "I Will Survive" and "Respect".
South Florida resident "Little" Peggy March, whose classic "I Will Follow Him" is included in the show, attended the opening night performance: "I loved it," she raved. "They're all terrific performers, and the show is a real tribute — to women and to music!"
Also in attendance on Friday night were several members of the original cast of RESPECT: Paulette Dozier, Katie Angell Thomas, and Debbie Goldberg, who said: "What a wonderful evening—the show was so refreshing, and of course nostalgic. I think the changes they've made are very creative."
